This Is It.

This is how I spent my Halloween this year.
The film was beyond amazing. Finally, a film about Michael where he is most comfortable, a stage. The film had nothing to do at all with his money problems, his skin, his plastic surgery, the allegations against him, his troubled childhood or his children. It was simply about his music, dancing and preparing of what was to be the greatest tour of all time.
You have 9 days left to go see it, so do it.

It's Tuesday once again

New music Tuesday on iTunes usually really excites me. I am kind of bummed this week though. I did not find too many items that really caught my attention. There was only one of the three free songs that I really liked. It is in Spanish, so I don't even know what he is singing about, but I like it.

Check it:
Declaration of Dependence by Kings of Convenience. It kind of makes me wish I was on a beach, like the album cover. The songs are soothing and meaningful.

One Fast Move or I'm Gone by Benjamin Gibbard & Jay Farrar. It kind of has a hint of country, but not enough to turn me off. I think I would really enjoy this album if it weren't 16.99.

New Moon Soundtrack. Sometimes I am ashamed that I like these books and films. However, they have killer soundtracks. No one can go wrong with artists like Lykke Li, Bon Iver, Thom York, or Sea Wolf. But again, it is 14.99, a little too expensive AND most the songs are album only. So, you pretty much have to buy the album to get the good ones.

Okay, so that is all that really excited me. Whoo-hoo, right? Yeah, I am disappointed too.

Biggest disappointment is the new released Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 album. The songs on there are classics, however, DJs got their sticky little hands on the songs and ruined them with shitty beats and horrible dance clubness. I love MJ, and this just ruined his amazing work. the end.

However, there was a good part of iTunes this week. BEST part of iTunes this week, is Frank Sinatra. Everyone knows I love him with all my heart. He is I guess one of the feature artists. So if someone has $75.45 to give away, please feel free to buy me the complete set of Frank Sinatra Discoveries. You will be my best friend for the rest of my life. Plus, who wouldn't want to say they made me the happiest girl in the world?

Once upon a time...

Lauren and I made really sweet shirts that said 'The Music Lives'. We thought we were really cool because it is a shirt Taylor Hanson used to wear. Next time I go home, I am determined to find mine.

I once wore mine to Adventureland and some dude running the rides asked me if it was a musical. He was obviously not a Hanson fan.

The Don'ts and Do's of New Music This Week.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME on the new:

A.F.I. - it is horrible. I downloaded their free music video from iTunes today. I about threw up at one part where it looked like Davy was about to kiss a girl. I am not sure why but I was grossed out beyond belife. They are just as whiny as they were years ago. These guys are older now, lets be a bit more mature. It is not worth spending money on, or even a free download.

Weezer - First off, they covered a Clash song. Big turn off. I don't like Weezer as it is, but I gave a listen to the songs on iTunes. Just as horrible as all their other records. I can never put a finger on why exactly I do not like this band, but now I have a reason. They butchered a good song.

Five for Fighting - Unless you're a mom, don't get it. The piano parts sound like all their other piano parts. I once thought the lead singers voice was cool, now it is just annoying. All their lyrics are really predictable too. Again, maybe your mom would like it, but don't waste money on it for yourself.

David Archuleta - He has a Christmas cd? It is bad enough he got as far as he did on American Idol, now he is ruining beautiful Christmas songs too? What has this world come to?

Bowling for Soup - I thought they died back when 1985 became last summers anthem, in 2005. They probably should have pretended they died then.

DO WASTE YOUR TIME on the new:

Where the Wild Things Are Soundtrack - Karen O is brilliant anyways but put her on the soundtrack for what is going to be one of the best movies in a long time, and you get a supernova. The soundtrack is so pure and lovely. Worth every cent!

Bob Dylan - Now, this Christmas cd, Christmas in the Heart, is amazing. Bob Dylan singing 'Ill be home for Christmas' almost brings tears to my eyes and makes me super glad it is almost time to blare my Christmas tunes. He could sing that horrid song, 'Mary Did you Know' and I would probably enjoy it.

Michael Buble - Everyone knows I am weak in the knees for crooners. So of course I adore Crazy Love, Michael's new album. His songs make me wish I lived in the 40's where they had swinging night clubs where girls wore cute little dresses, chain smoked and drank martinis and the boys wore suits, hats and fought for their lady. Just listen to some of the songs and try NOT to picture you in that era.

Fanfarlo - I must admit, I am a sucker for album covers. If it looks cool, I am attracted and have to listen. This was one of them. It has two girls on it, its nothing special, but it caught my eye. So, I gave it a listen and fell in love. The lead singer's voice sounds like someone else, I just can not put a finger on it. If you know who, tell me! It is driving me crazy.

A Rocket to the Moon - Yeah, I know. I am stupid for putting this in my 'your time on it section'. I can not help it. I have a few bands who are guilty pleasures and ARTTM just happens to be one of them. I started listening to Nick Santino clear back in ohhh, maybe 2006 and was hooked by his catchy beats and cute lyrics. Sometimes, the lyrics make me want to puke and other times they make me smile because I am having a bad day.

Robert Francis - Before Nightfall might become my favorite album for a week or two. Simply amazing. Just listen to it.

The Excuse.

So I have no Internet in my apt until I get a cord thing because our wireless decided to not work. Aaaand I am poor and have to wait till I go home again to get a cord (thanks mommy and daddy). Sooo, that is why there has been a lack of awesome blogs lately.

I really don't like sitting in the computer lab where people could read over my shoulder what I am writing, although they could read it anyway. Weird, I know.

but that is my little update. Hopefully i will get a cord this weekend, and next week the blogs will be flowing like normal again.

Also, this no internet thing has put a HUGE damper on my New Music Tuesdays, so please, leave me some good bands I need to check out on iTunes when i get my internet back.

Thank ya much.

Let down.

"Please don't let me down." - That was the end of a blog I wrote awhile back.

Well, I was definitely let once again. I am done this time. This was the last straw. I mean it with every fiber of my being. You had your shot and you fucking blew it. You lied. Every word you have been spitting my way the past few months have been nothing but lies. I do not know why I thought this time would be different. Maybe I thought you had grown up, but you haven't. You disappointed me and made me look like an idiot in front of everyone again. "Sarah, he is just going to hurt you again", "Sarah, you know he won't show up. Something will 'come up'". Well everyone, you were right. He didn't show, something 'came up', and I got hurt once again. I gave you second, third and sixtieth chances. I should have stopped at the second one. People like you never change, when will I learn.

I took down that damn picture of us again in my car. I took it down and held it out the window. The air was ripping at it, dying to take it to a far away place so I would never have to look at it again. Instead I jammed it back into the glove box one and final time.

The Little Things.

What is your worst fear; something you cannot touch? The future. I hate not knowing where I will be 10 years, 5 years, 1 year, 30 minutes from now. I am scared because I don't know who that special someone will be in my life. I am scared because I don't know where my job will take me. I want to know every detail of the future. Time is something else that is a fear, although, I guess that could go along with future to an extent.

What makes you truly happy? (Something that involves no one else.)I am happy when I am sitting in my room, window open, tunes floating from my speakers, incense burning and a book or journal in my hand. I am happy when I am able to watch the sunset during the fall, wearing my grandpa's flannel and listening to frank Sinatra. I am also very happy when I am able to just cruise around in my car blaring tunes and simply just thinking of everything under the sun.

How do you cure your loneliness?Simply put, music. I have a few select bands that I can put on and its like they are medicine. They cure my loneliness and make me realize I'm really not alone at all.

What is the most tiring book you've ever read, but finished?Tough question. I have always been a book worm. I do not think I have ever had a tiring book. I enjoy reading and am always ready to take on a new book or novel. If I had to choose though, I guess Great Expectations during Freshman year of high school.

What are five things you want to do before your time here is done?
1. Go back to Conor's house, and not be terrified of being in his presence. (took Lauren's idea, because its so true)
2. Teach in Africa.
3. Travel the world.
4. Have a family.
5. Make a difference is someones life.

Tell us some things about your best friend. She is the most beautiful, strong, intelligent and amazing person I have ever met. She is sarcastic beyond belief and it is what makes her who she is. She has big dreams and I hope to God she lives them to their fullest. She has been by my side since day one. She is the best friend I didn't even have to look for. Without her, I would not be who I am today. Her heart is the size of the universe. She never judges me, not matter what stupid decision I make. She tells me how it is and never lies to me. She is my other half and I couldn't be more grateful for her.

We've all been jealous of our best friend. Why?
I'm jealous of how tiny she is. I'm jealous that she has found love and I am still searching. She is super smart and I only wish I could be half as smart as she is. I'm jealous that she is still at home close to family while I am far away.

Do you have a dream job?
Managing a band.
Teaching in Africa.
Owning a record store.
just to name a few...

Have you ever thought about why your favorite color is your favorite color?
Turquoise. I suppose it is my favorite because it reminds me of the sky in Iowa on a perfect summer day. It reminds me of the color of the ocean in my favorite vacation spot, Cayman Islands.

Describe your favorite outfit.
Skinny jeans, a v-neck t-shirt, flannel or a sweater, and TOMS shoes.

It's 9 a.m. are you still sleeping? If not, what are you doing?
I hardly ever sleep past nine these days. Today was the second day in over two months I have slept past that. I am usually at school, working, or starting my day off somehow.

Describe three of your most unattractive qualities. (Not physical.)
I pop my pinky knuckles way too much.
I laugh at everything and its always super loud.
I don't forgive people very well.

Describe three of your most attractive qualities. (Not physical.)
I have a huge heart.
I tell things the way they are. (I find that attractive, others don't)
I will help others whenever need be.

Which was easier?
Both were alright to answer.

Is today going to be a good day?
Why yes, I do believe it will be. Got some good news, might hang out with a cool boy, no classes, its sunny AND it's Friday.

Admiration.

I think Craig Owens and I are meant to be best friends. Too bad we have only met once. All the words he writes are exactly what and how I feel about things in my life. I think I am in love with his talented mind.

"Hey, I saw you during our set. I noticed your sweatshirt. I love Modern Life is War. I saw them a few weeks back" - Craig
"Oh, Awesome. Yeah, they are good. Can I get a picture with you?" - Me
"You want a picture with me? How about I get a picture with you?" - Craig

I'm pretty sure this picture was taken sometime in 2006 at The House of Bricks.

Visions.

You will be the one I miss the most. However, I have yet to see you in over a week. I had visions of my last week in this town as being different than this. I had visions of us living out our last few days of summer together, like old days. I had visions of us squeezing the last bit of sun out of the day before the moon set high. These visions were quite lovely, yet they were only visions. My last week here and I have been in bed before eleven each night texting him until I fall asleep. My last week here and I am living inside my four walls. Summer has come to an end and dear, I did not spend enough time with you this summer. It's our own faults, we had big dreams that faded to quickly. I regret that now. I am wishing I had spent more of my last summer at home with the one who has been my rock, my shoulder to lean on and my other half for almost 21 years now. I am scared to death to leave. I am afraid things will change. I have always felt like this, that is why those visions were so lovely to me. I hate growing up and growing apart. I pray to God this does not happen with us. I pray to God I will always have visions of us. And I pray to God those visions will happen and not stay in my mind as this summers' did.

Pretty much...

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts.
And we are never, ever the same.

- I don't know who said this quote, but it couldn't be more true.
